I like to think about all the different (sometimes wildly different) moments that classify as the best ones or even good ones in any given day.  Of course, that’s a mighty long list for anyone who’s past the age of baby teeth.  Today’s best moment…okay, ONE of the best, was hearing Greg Gutfeld’s puckish indignation that the rest of “The Five” were quite wrapped up in talking about some guy named RG3, when it was clearly more important to discuss last night’s premiere episode of this season’s Downton Abbey.

Bear in mind that I only discovered the multilayered bliss of DA last night, after having heard a couple of friends talk with lit-up faces about it.  It didn’t take long to see what they mean about the appeal, and pick up the well-crafted story line.  If you’re a pop-culture Luddite like me, it’s a period series capturing the 1920’s; the sets and costumes alone are worth the price of admission.

Of course, today’s moment just proves the theory about part of the recipe of best moments being the timing.  I thought the football fans around the set were going to choke on their scripts when Gut riffed on major plot points of what promises to be a beautifully thickened plot over this season.  What a refreshing change of pace amid so much that really isn’t worth watching on tv…including the sharp spike in kabuki politics.

Until again,
Deelight
